I watched a program on TRT about the tango singer Zehra Eren, and have looked for a CD, but there is none, only one track on a tango collection. I think this should really be made as soon as possible. She is fantastic!

Hi Hasan
This is from my friend Doug Spencer, Producer of The Planet world music programme in Australia. It is broadcast throughout Australia on ABC (like TRT). I recommend you send him some Kalan CDs. I have mentioned Birol and Engin to him. He is a good guy - a musicians friend, and interested in Turk music.

Hi Linda
Thanks for passing on Kim's meesage .. which I was glad to read.
Could you please pass on my best to him and .. while I'm at it, let me take shameless advantage of the opportunity!
I'll attach full program details/propaganda as a Word document (and in case anything goes wonk with that, I'll paste in a briefer version at bottom of this message-proper) .
Kim may like to pass that on to Turkish musicians/lablels with fine recordings. To say that sourcing same is a challenge is an understatement.
I'd love them to let them know that there is a very-interested program in Australia which would love to be on their proverbial 'radar'. I do always take the trouble to flag fully in my play-lists the details of the discs played.. so there is some practical point in their having me on their radar.
I suspect that you and Kim would have seen and heard the 'Great Helmsman Rudd' faux-Chinese propaganda film, but just in case not , I'll paste in the link.
7.30 Report played a bit of it, but the full version is even better:

If you seek a particular disc or wish to attend a musical event we mention, our play lists ( www.abc.net.au/rn/weekendplanet ) provide the necessary information. They often include other links, too. We publish them by (or before) the Friday before broadcast.
Please email information about CDs, tour schedules etc to:
weekendplanet@your.abc.net.au
(no exe.files, please. Please put a descriptive subject header on your message. We love plain text.)
Doug's email (best thing to use for anything urgent - this is the one I work on, all day): spencer.doug@abc.net.au
If you’d like to know a little more, please read on...
The Weekend Planet ( www.abc.net.au/rn/weekendplanet ) and Daily Planet ( www.abc.net.au/rn/dailyplanet ) build on the legacy of The Planet ( www.abc.net.au/rn/music/planet/default.htm ) From 1990 through 2005 The Planet was a unique window into diverse, traditional and innovative musics; from 1999, continuously, it won Rhythms Magazine’s readers' poll for Australia's 'National Music Program of the Year'. It prompted delighted emails from all continents, Antarctica included. The Planet play lists from November 1995 through to Jan 2006 are archived and can be searched on-line.
The Weekend Planet’s producer-presenter Doug Spencer was The Planet’s founder-producer.. . At the second annual Australian World Music Awards {announced March 18, 2000} Doug Spencer won the award for “Outstanding Contribution to World Music” {nominations came from an Australia-wide pool of industry professionals, with final voting by a select panel who had extensive knowledge of world music artists living and working in Australia}.
The Weekend Planet has the most detailed play lists you’ll likely find.. We show full catalogue & contact details, so our listeners know where to go/what to do when a disc played lacks Australian distribution (very often the case. It is often difficult for a specialist label to find an Australian distributor. It is NOT difficult to reach discerning Australian music lovers - simply make sure you have me on your mailing list! ) Australians are among the world’s most prodigious users of the internet. Our play lists also show all the information a non-Australian needs.
There is no "play list" in the rotation sense - each program is a unique entity. We're not about hype, fads, fashions: the program simply tries to present in a friendly-but-fearless fashion very many different kinds of good music, and to present them intelligently. Mainstream pop “product”, muzak, “new age” twaddle, heavy metal, machine-music, mainstream western classical music we leave alone. In sum “real music by real people” is what we’re about; there’s no fear of “foreign” tongues, no shying away from anything longer than four minutes, no fear of something being quite quiet or quite loud and no discomfort about - for example – placing within the same program an Arabic lutenist, a Texan songster, an Italian improvising saxophonist, a fiddler from Clare, a singer from Mali, a bluegrass band, Ornette Coleman, and an Iranian hand-drummer.
The ABC is Australia's national, non-commercial, taxpayer-funded ( arguably, severely UNDER-funded) broadcaster

I was introduced to Kalan by a friend whom I met on Last.fm; I already knew some Turkish traditional and classical music, but through Last.fm and your catalogue I've extended my knowledge considerably, and gained a great deal of pleasure in the process. Although you are partly responsible for my future poverty, I thank you.

Hello, I write to you hoping you can help me with some information I need. In the album "Asya Iclerinden Balkanlara/Saz/Hazirlayan: Melih Duygulu/CD 077" there is a track 3 "Kopuzum/Canar Aycankizi: Vokal-Kopuz (kirgizistan)". I really would like to know the lyrics, wich I couldn't find in the booklet or in the net.
Thank you for your wonderful label.

I just have been two weeks in Bursa. There is a little shop on main street who is selling some CDs. A friend of mine, Dogan, and I have bought 17 CDs of turkish artists. Almost every one are from your great music catalogue. Good work! Thank you for your efforts.

Namaste!
We highly appreciate your treasure of Turkish classical and folk music which stands as a symbol of cultural harmony. And we would like to spread the goal of Kalan Music here in India by releasing your extensive catalogue to the music lovers of India.
We are a leading music company in Delhi, India, with a vast range of spiritual & instrumental albums spanning across genres like meditation, new age music, sufi music, Indian Classical and others. Our label name is Mystica Music, and we have produced, distributed and sold most popular exclusive music cds all across India with ground breaking pioneering works like Rumi-Love at its Zenith, and Zikr-Call of a Sufi which have been instrumental in bringing the fragrance of Turkey to India.
To begin with, we would like to release the albums of Yansimilar to attract the music connoisseurs. It is our wish to spread your network and fortunately with our expansive distribution network we are in a position to expand your presence all over in India.
With both music companies working together, it would be a wonderful journey to ascend to new heights in the world of music. Where dedication, committment and excellence is foremost to bring a harmonious healthy living to all.
Awaiting your feedback.
